Located in Clarksville, Tennessee, Hankook Tire Manufacturing Tennessee, LP embarked on a major boiler plant expansion to support its tire manufacturing facility. The project called for Sylvan to execute the installation of three 1500-horsepower boilers, a deaerator (DA) tank, a surge tank, and all associated piping. The scope of the awarded work took place within the new boiler plant expansion, approximately 7,000 square feet in size, and required maintaining strict deadlines while coordinating with a general contractor and multiple mechanical trades working in the same confined space. External factors caused delays on critical equipment which added further pressure to the schedule.
Recognized for our expertise in complex industrial installations, Sylvan was contracted directly by Hankook Tire Manufacturing to deliver the boiler installation and all associated piping. A lean yet highly focused crew of eight tradesmen worked within the boiler plant expansion, guided onsite by our exceptional and detail-oriented project superintendent. Coordination was key for this project. The Sylvan team worked closely with the general contractor and other mechanical contractors to align on timelines, space allocation, and installation sequencing. Despite significant logistical challenges – tight quarters, overlapping trades, and delayed equipment deliveries – Sylvan implemented a disciplined plan to keep the project on track. This included detailed scheduling, precise field coordination, and clear, consistent communication with all project partners.
To date, Sylvan has logged just under 10,000 manhours without a single recordable incident, underscoring our commitment to safety and excellence. Despite the challenges, the team successfully navigated project challenges, delivering on schedule, while building strong partnerships with Hankook and other key stakeholders. Thanks to careful planning and the leadership of our superintendent and skilled team on site, the Hankook Tire Manufacturing Boiler Installation has been marked a success for both Sylvan and customer – demonstrating Sylvan’s ability to deliver complex industrial projects safely and efficiently.
