Aries Gas Facility

In May 2023, Sylvan embarked on a significant project undertaking extensive mechanical upgrades and improvements at Aries Gas facility, located in Linden, NJ. These upgrades included the installation of a new quench system and skid, replacing the original condensers with two new 60,000lb units, which were necessary due to the poor performance of the existing equipment. Additionally, the project required substantial structural upgrades to accommodate the larger and heavier condensers, modifications to the purge fan, and the implementation of a new diverter system.

Ensuring that the project stayed within budget while adhering to a tight timeline required meticulous planning and coordination. The confined work area presented a challenge in scheduling multiple trades, including fitters, boilermakers, carpenters, millwrights, electricians, laborers, painters, insulators, and iron workers, to work simultaneously without compromising safety or efficiency

As the General Contractor for the project, Sylvan appointed a full-time scheduler on-site who worked closely with the client and all trades to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project’s duration. The scheduler’s presence was instrumental in maintaining the project’s momentum and addressing any issues promptly. Sylvan also conducted a thorough constructability review to expedite the installation process. The insights gained from this review, combined with the scheduler’s efforts, allowed Sylvan to optimize the project schedule, ultimately pulling it in and delivering timely results to the client.
The successful coordination of multiple trades in a confined space, along with effective scheduling and constructability reviews, ensured the project’s timely and cost-effective completion. Having successfully completed two major projects of this stature at Aries, Sylvan has positioned itself advantageously to secure ongoing and future maintenance work within the facility.
