DoD Site

The Energy Savings Project at this DoD site is a large-scale initiative focused on improving energy efficiency across multiple facilities through mechanical and electrical upgrades, including new HVAC systems and lighting controls. Sylvan was engaged to support the mechanical scope of work, contributing to critical HVAC upgrades across several buildings as part of a broader infrastructure improvement effort.

Sylvan’s scope included mechanical systems engineering and installation, HVAC equipment procurement and integration, process piping and underground utilities, fire protection systems, sheet metal fabrication and installation, equipment rigging and commissioning, as well as quality control and testing. Key work included replacing air handling units (AHUs), installing a 1,500-ton chiller, and adding multiple exhaust and intake fans across several buildings. Given the complexity of the facility and operational requirements, our team emphasized detailed planning, sequencing, and coordination with multiple stakeholders, including government representatives and facility personnel.

Work was performed within an active, secure federal facility, requiring strict adherence to clearance protocols and coordinated scheduling to support ongoing operations. Our team navigated complex logistics, including structural modifications to enable AHU replacements and the dismantling and on-site reassembly of the chiller.

Throughout execution, Sylvan maintained close coordination with multiple stakeholders, including a general contractor, various U.S. Government agencies, and the Department of Defense, to ensure compliance with federal requirements and approval processes.

The project has successfully delivered major HVAC and mechanical upgrades across multiple facilities at the site, improving system performance and advancing long-term energy efficiency goals. Sylvan’s work demonstrates the ability to execute complex mechanical installations within secure, highly regulated environments while maintaining strong coordination with multiple government stakeholders. The project remains on track for final completion, reinforcing Sylvan’s capability in delivering mission-critical infrastructure improvements in demanding settings.
